Maurice Mitchell
Head Coach
As an athlete, Coach Maurice was a decorated High School champion for two consecutive years in the 100, 200, and 400. Running PRs of 10.23, 20.64, and 47.40, along with being the current state record holder for the last 14 years in Missouri in the 100 and 200. Coach Maurice was a high school All-American in the long jump and jumping 23, respectively.
He earned a full scholarship to THE Florida State University and won 14 ACC titles and 3 National titles in the 200m. In 2012, Coach Maurice was on the Olympic team, becoming the 9th fastest sprinter in the world. He became a part of history this year.
As a former head coach at Geneva, he guided his team to a state title and coached 11 school records. Since coaching for SASE, he had over a dozen athletes achieve personal best and get some All-American honors at the Junior Olympics in relays and open events. As a coach, he believes in developing his athletes to succeed on & off the track and assisting them in them to reach their personal goals.
Tiara Mitchell
Asst. Head Coach
Coach Tiara is the proud wife of Maurice. In high school she was amongst the best jumpers in the entire nation. She was a state champion in the Triple Jump where she is currently the Florida high school state record holder for the last 17 years in triple jumping 42'8. She went off to FSU and became an All-American and being amongst the top 10 best jumper in FSU history. As a coach, she has helped guide multiple kids to personal best along with a AAU Jr Olympics runner up in 2019.
Chris Davis
Hurdles Coach
Coach Chris brings a high level of expertise to the sport of track and field. As an athlete Coach Chris was a Two Time All- Big 12 athlete along with being a NCAA regional qualifier while attending Missouri University. In high school Coach Chris won the Georgia High School AAAA Championship in the 300m hurdles with his personal best time in early June ... Was also third in the state in 2007 at 400m with another personal best. Finished sixth at the AAU Junior Olympics in the 400m hurdles (54.51) .Was a versatile athlete, excelling at middle distances, long hurdles, and triple jumping as a high schooler. Chris volunteers as a coach at UTSA over the last 4+ years and brings a tremendous amount of knowledge in the hurdles and running events.
